Nothing screams “Christmas Foodie Gift” to me like this amazing almond butter crunch. So when Claire (Claire K Creations) emailed me asking if I wanted to be involved in a Foodie Secret Santa, it was the first thing that came to mind.
I text my mum’s amazing friend Deb, to see if she was happy to share the recipe, with not only me, but with all of you too. She was more than happy to.
I heard the ping of my email and I checked it with baited breath, it was like being let in on the Christmas Miracle, like all my Christmas’s had come at once. This delicious treat is melt-in-the-mouth-decadence, the perfect way to finish off a meal.
I made up three packages of this, along with some shortbread and fruity Christmas biscotti, to sent off my to my recipients. Yesterday, I got two packages in the mail. These amazing rich chocolate covered peppermint patties and some spiced cranberry sauce which I can’t wait to try with my Christmas ham. What food do you solely associate with Christmas, apart from the obvious?

- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 300 gm dark chocolate
- Finely chop the blanched almonds.
- Spread in a pan and roast lightly in a moderate oven.

- Cool.
- Melt chocolate, stir until smooth.
- Pour chocolate over the cooled caramel. Sprinkle with reserved nuts.
RUM BALLS! 🙂
Oh I don’t make those enough!
Trifle but not sure if everybody does or it is just our family.
I’ve never had trifle on Christmas day, but it sounds like a great tradition!
vegetable samosas – its my family in-laws thing, but I love it.
J makes fabulous samosas! Maybe it needs to become a family tradition of ours too!
No way Clare this looks way more difficult than 4 ingredients. It’s so fancy! So many things I want to make now! Thanks again for being a part of #foodiesecretsanta
I always thought that too! But no, just four ingredients!
Your packages look delicious! Quick question – what have you used for packaging? I’m trying to decide what to wrap some christmas biscuits in, without them getting crushed or going soggy…
I just found the little cellophane bags at Woolworths. Then I just sent them in a post bag, they seemed to arrive fine.
Iced sugar cookies. Your almond butter crunch looks wonderful! Merry Christmas!
I’m just no good at icing sugar cookies!
There are so many foods associated with Christmas but I think for me the number one would have to be Christmas cake. I’m so glad I received your almond butter crunch. Unfortunately the chocolate did melt in the post but I put it straight in the fridge and it has recovered nicely. You packaged your gifts beautifully xx
I hadn’t even thought of it melting, seeing as it’s been so cold down here. I’m glad you got it safe and sound though.
Clare, let me just say that your butter crunch was A-MAZING! So good, in fact, that I need to make some more. Thanks so much for my lovely gifts, I’m so pleased to see that the patties made their way to you safe and sound as well.
Have a lovely Christmas!
I’m so glad you liked it Erin!
